After many desperate, unsuccessful attempts for a Goa trip, we managed to get on board to a dept trip to Kashid beach. It was organised by EESA and for just 300 bucks for the whole day seemed to be a good bargain. Initially the H4 junta were reluctant to go citing multiple reasons varying from GRE, Projects to just normal Magai over the weekend. But finally, they somehow decided to come and I am still puzzled over their change of heart! Still, on this trip we missed two of our friends - Rushabh [On a sem exchange to JHU] and Desai [Somehow got ill].
The day, 5th Feb, started normally with me waking up at 5am and cursing myself - "Why do u have to go to such trips where u have to wake up so early in the morning; this could have been a vey peaceful weekend but u ruined it; let's get back to sleep and ditch this trip, anyways damle is not gonna wake up if ur not up :P". Amidst all this, I somehow managed to lift myself up from the bed and packed for the trip. After the long journey to GG building me & damle entered the bus and was greated [could only here "Gaam+damle= Gaamle"] by the fourthie junta. We left the insti at around 6:30 or so after cursing everyone possible for such a delay. I was shocked to know that it was a 4 HOUR long journey! I would have never set foot on that bus if I had known this fact, but then the 'damage' was done. I slept for the first half of the journey and so did many others. We stopped at some place in mid-way to have tea and light snacks. The usual cursing/abusing/harrassing of Gota [Gautam] started with chuun [Kunal] blabbering knowing no limits :P
Dumb-C took the remaing of the journey. With people exchanging places, movie names and enacting as if they are gonna get a Oscar for their performance, the time ran away quickly. It was a big relief to finally see the coastline. Everybody jumped off the bus, where they were held prisioners for 4 long hours and headed for the beach. Everyone was pretty excited to take a dip in water. It was a pretty long beach and was definetly cleaner then my expectation. There were Jet-skies rolling in the water and plentiful of people enjoying the beach. We started playing 'catch-catch' [couldn't think of a better name :) ] and soon many people joined one or the other team. I could hardly recall any other time when I have enjoyed that game so much. It was fun to watch people diving into water, snatching balls from one-another and religiously throwing balls such that other person couldn't catch it! Soon the magic of the game began to fade. Chuun started displaying his skills of throwing a person like Brock lesnar and doing a somer-sault. After some 2 hours of this water fun, we left for lunch. Frankly, I hated that tasteless meal. With a lunch-buffet, I had imagined atleast a covered hall but we had to sit under a temporary shade and salt-less food was given to us. After the lunch, some of us wanted to rest on beach and some wanted to go to a nearby fort. [Don't know why that plan was dropped later on]
Back at the beach, we rested on hammocks for sometime and then went for a banana boat ride. It was quite thrilling when 6 of you are on a banana-shaped floater, pulled by a Jet-ski, and are about to be thrown in water! The 4- hour long journey to this beach seemed totally worth it. We spent some more time playing in the water and conquering the big waves coming our way. Tired of this, we went back to the shade and dried ourselves while swinging on hammocks! We watched the beautiful sunset and enjoyed sipping tea and eating pakoras. Soon everyone gathered and packed up to leave the beach.
The Journey back home was sleepy for me, but the rest of junta was enjoying playing dumb-C for the entire 4 hours [How dumb are they :P ]. I had a great time on my last Department trip :) :(
